9th annual BBQ/Bluegrass Festival (2013) The 9th annual BBQ/Bluegrass Festival will take place August 16 & 17th 2013 in Worland, WY. (Mark your Calendar!). We are the Wyoming State BBQ Championship sanctioned by KCBS. Each year 30+ BBQ cookers come to compete for this year's prizes totaling more than: $6,975.00 (Plus Trophies and Ribbons)! Participants spend countless hours preparing and cooking favorite recipes for Beef Brisket, Pulled Pork, Ribs, and Chicken. Our extra categories includes Sauce. For more information on the BBQ competition click on the BBQ. The festival gets under way on Friday, Aug. 16th at 4:00pm. Opening ceremonies at 5:30pm and events continue until 10:00pm. On Saturday, August 17th, the event begins at 8:00am with a pancake breakfast and ends at 10:00pm. Click on the menu items for more information. Kids Q begins at 8:30am on Saturday. *** No Animals Of Any Kind Allowed on Festival Grounds! *** * * * Special Note: Please No Ice Chests or Coolers allowed! No outside food or beverages allowed! Excellent Food and drinks are available from the vendors! (Please note: This is one of the ways we are able to maintain "FREE ADMISSION" to the event.) * * *
About The Festival Worland is located in the middle of the beautiful Big Horn Basin half way between Casper, WY and Billings, MT. Turn at the junction of State Hwy 433, on HWY 16/20 and then take to the fairgrounds. The friendliest little town with a big heart invites you to attend our festival for FREE! Taste mouthwatering BBQ and listen to fabulous Bluegrass musicians. Bring the family and enjoy a tasty BBQ meal, visit with friends, make new ones, and wander around the other exhibits. The Festival is held at the Washakie County Fairgrounds on a grassy field, surrounded by shade trees. Enjoy the taste of mouth watering food from world-class chefs, and of course enjoy the music!
People’s Choice Competition Information This year we will again be having an “anything goes” competition! You can serve appetizers, your best smoked meat, even a dessert or side dish! Break out your best ideas and compete amongst other competitors for the public’s favorite!!! Open to all signed up teams- not limited to food vendors. Teams will supply all supplies, ingredients, etc. Tickets will be provided by the BBQ Committee. Will take place Friday, August 16 from 6-8 pm, prizes will be awarded for the top 3 places later that evening. 150 ticket packets will be sold. Please try to have approximately this many samples or you may lose a ‘golden ticket’. All proceeds go to the Wyoming BBQ and Bluegrass Festival. Health cards are not required for People’s Choice Competition. Here is How it works: Wyoming BBQ and Bluegrass Festival will sell tickets to the public (they will be available at the bank booths), including one ticket that will be a different color. This will be used as the “favorite” sampler ticket. Samplers will turn in 1 ticket for one sample with their favorite team receiving the off color ticket. Admission is FREE! When you enter the festival, your first stop should be at one of our two banks, to exchange cash for bone bucks. Use these Bone Bucks for purchases of Food, Beverages, T-Shirts, Mugs, and other items from festival vendors. Vendors will only accept Bone Bucks. Special Note: Last years mugs are welcome to bring back and be refilled at the refill cost.
